Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas

Amelia Hathaway and Cam Rohan's book

Mine Till Midnight (Hathaway's book 1)

by Lisa Kleypas

Book Blurb:
When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan.

Wealthy beyond most men's dreams, Cam has tired of society's petty restrictions and longs to return to his "uncivilized" Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship--but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter….

Excellent book and this was the first Lisa Kleypas book I have ever read. I know I know. I love historical so much and it just felt so damn good to read one by her. I’ve been reading lots of contemp recently so I loved to get back to my favourite genre. (and what a treat it was “Mine Till Midnight”)

Mine Till Midnight is the beginning book of the Hathaway series and what a family they are. Amelia is the second oldest of the siblings but definitely the family member in charge. The Hathaway’s have experienced a tough time with the death of their parents and the loss of a dear family friend that changed their family unit forever. It was heartbreaking to follow the book through reading the destruction of Amelia’s oldest brother, Lord Ramsey. The love of his life died from Scarlett fever and although he medically recovered from the fever himself, with the loss of his finance and Amelia’s best friend, he is a bit of a lost soul. I will really enjoy reading his story when I get to it.

Mine Till Midnight focuses on Amelia and a rich half breed Roma, Cam. *sigh CAM* I love that Kleypas wrote a book where a Gypsy was not only a leading man like Cam but also included Merripen another male character who was an adopted family member of the Hathaways. (another eagerly awaited Hathaway book shall star Merripen no doubt)

Cam is still a bit of a mystery with his Roma background and I can’t wait to read more about him in the other Hathaway books. Cam suffers from a good luck curse (lol) and he can’t seem to have anything go wrong for him. He is rich, patient, reasonable, gorgeous and has discovered that he is very much in love with Amelia.

Amelia is stubborn; the weight of the world on her shoulders, adores her siblings and is determined not to marry after having her heart broken early on. She fights the attraction to Cam but is increasingly finding it difficult not to resist him. I love that in a time where there was a lot of racism, the fact that Cam was a Roma had no bearing on her decision to like/love him at all.

I really enjoyed their journey and the different storylines that Kleypas wove into this first book. It certainly made me happy I picked up the entire series so I can move right onto the next Hathaway book.

I love this quote:
Amelia - “I knew what I would think at the very last moment of my life. Oh, if I could have just one more day with Cam. I would fit a lifetime into those few hours.”
Cam – “Statistically speaking, we’ll have at least ten, fifteen thousand days to spend together.”
Amelia – “I don’t want to be apart from you for even one of them.”

Great review! This was also my first Lisa Kleypas book, and I liked it. Often I have issues with historical romances, like I don't like the characters or think parts are just stupid, but I did really enjoy this. And the Hathaways were so interesting, not to mention Cam! So HOT!!
