Bound to You by Bethany Kane
John and Jennifer's book
Bound to You
by Bethany Kane
Book Blurb:
John Corcoran loved the isolation of the Shawnee National Forest with the crisp spring air, the sounds of nature, and the bracing scent of pine. Isolation is what movie star Jennifer Turner craved as well, an escape that only a weekend hike, a long and blissful distance from Hollywood, could provide.
Yesterday, they were strangers--until a fateful accident, deep in the forest and far from civilization, throws them together and plunges them both into darkness. For Jennifer it is as unnerving as the night itself, trapped in such close quarters with a man as mysterious as John. He is alpha: bold, rough, and masculine, but with a scent of firewood and spice she finds intoxicating.
In the dark, Jennifer's nightmares spring to life. The only way to vanquish them is by submitting to blind, naked need. Now, as intimately close as a man and a woman can be, they find themselves alone, battling fear and vulnerability. Only an unexpected passion will comfort them--a sensual, raw experience from which neither is certain they want to be rescued.
A great quick sexy novella read. I was drawn to this book because the hero, John was blind. There are very few books out where the hero has a disability. Of the ones that I have read, I liked them. That was the same for Bound to You. I liked it.
John's disability really didn't hinder him at all. He pretty much does exactly what a man with normal eyesight could do. This ability includes being totally blind yet able to hike in a dangerous forest full of sinkholes. This sinkhole is how Jennifer and John end up spending a lot of quality time together; underground in the sinkhole itself.
It was dirty and dank and I could smell the earth and dampness as the area underground was being described. Their environment certainly didn't discourage their attraction nor their conversation. It was fitting that Jennifer's stark fear of the dark ended up being the trigger to having John comfort her through the night. Comfort is a great motivator to get close. John and Jen definitely used that time to discover their sexual attraction to one another. Who knew being underground in a sinkhole could be so sexy?
There were a few things that raised my eyebrows, like Enzo the wonder dog catching a rabbit and tossing it down to them in the sinkhole for dinner, but all in all, a good read.
I did wish for a bit longer tie up at the end. It was really quick ending and after the entire story had John and Jen in one stationary spot, I would have liked to have read a bit more about their interaction after they were rescued.
