Carrie West and Brian Newburgh's book
The Story Guy
By Mary Ann Rivers
Book Blurb:In this eBook original novella, Mary Ann Rivers introduces a soulful and sexy tale of courage, sacrifice, and love. I will meet you on Wednesdays at noon in Celebration Park. Kissing only. Carrie West is happy with her life . . . isn’t she?But when she sees this provocative online ad, the thirtysomething librarian can’t help but be tempted. After all, the photo of the anonymous poster is far too attractive to ignore. And when Wednesday finally arrives, it brings a first kiss that’s hotter than any she’s ever imagined.
Brian Newburgh is an attorney, but there’s more to his life . . . that he won't share with Carrie. Determined to have more than just Wednesdays, Carrie embarks on a quest to learn Brian’s story, certain that he will be worth the cost. But is she ready to gamble her heart on a man who just might be The One . . . even though she has no idea how their love story will end?
What an original story idea that author Mary Ann Rivers created. The Story Guy was highly recommended to me by a few of my romance book loving friends and I honestly had no idea what it was about. I'm actually glad that I didn't know the story behind The Story Guy. As such, the story continued to be a fresh new novella idea for me to experience...and I loved it.
I don't want to give too much of the story away because I don't want to ruin the experience for anyone else.
I loved the characters Carrie and Brian. First of all I loved their plain ordinary names. Having an everyday name brought an air of realism to this couple. I was also a fan that they each wore glasses. I know it is such a small thing but once again, I felt like Carrie and Brian were just regular people. I just fell in love with this idea of romance for these ordinary regular people. There wasn't a focus on an alpha man with abs of steel nor a spit fire heroine out to prove herself. That is not to say that Carrie nor Brian was unattractive but I was so wrapped up into this story, I rather forget how they were described otherwise. Their beauty was not the draw to this captivating novella.
I also loved the title of the book. Soooo fitting. No spoilers I promise!
