Lets face it. Barrons and Mac's story is a really hard act to follow. The first 5 books in the Fever series are epic. With such big footsteps to follow, how can a 14 yr old Dani possibly conjure the pulsating action like the adventures that Mackayla Lane gave us? Well I am really pleased to say that I loved ICED. It was not epic like the first 5 books but truthfully, I was not a super huge fan of book 1, Darkfever at first either. But don't let that comment take away from the fact I still thought ICED was stellar and is deserving of my 5 star rating.
If you have not read the first 5 books, don't even try ICED. You won't get the sheer magnitude of this urban fantasy series. It is not a stand alone novel.
So with that understanding, if you are reading this review on my thoughts about ICED and comparing it to your own, cool! You'll understand my comments. If you haven't read ICED yet but plan to, then perhaps my thoughts will inspire you to pick it up.
Some quick bullet thoughts regarding ICED characters.

- Lor - You've grown on me and I like you a lot
- Dancer - You're the Shit!
- Jo - Guard your heart
- Kat - Don't give up
- Barrons - Be patient
- Mac - Where are you? I missed you!! Also, I know why you were telling her to put down her sword.
- Jayne - I used to like you but now I don't. I understand but that doesn't change how I feel.
- Cruce - You slippery feathered devil. I know we have not heard the last from you.
And finally Dani. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about reading a story where a 14 yr old was the main protagonist but she rocked. A little repetitive with the word "Dude" and "fecking" but I know teens; once they latch onto a word, it is repetitious language. She may be all strong on the outside and as much as she is confident, she puts on a lot of bravo. She is a tough cookie. Admirable really. I wish Lor would mentor her and Ryodan would leave her alone. I also know that in a typical Karen Marie Moning fashion, it is never what you think so I will probably adore Ryodan by the end.
I did get annoyed with the first person flipping between characters. I was reading away as Dani and at the start of the next chapter, the first person was Kat. I didn't like that at all.
Fabulous story. Mild cliffhanger (when is that next book out?) and a great adventure. I am eager to continue on with Dani's books and I can't wait to see what happens in Dublin next.

Every January I set a goal to start off the year right by re-reading a favourite book or series. To me January can be bleak. Dark. Cold. Less exciting after the anticipated December holiday season. Once the sparkly dazzling decorations are tucked away for another year the living room looks barren. The bills from Christmas start to trickle in and the thought of not seeing and feeling the bright warm sunshine for months can weigh heavily on my mind. For this reason, I reach for my comfort reads in January.
This past year in October, Karen Marie Moning released ICED. I had 2 autographed copies shipped to me right away but I still have not read it yet. There are a few reasons for that.
One reason is because I wanted to wait until after I re-read the Fever Series so that I can carry straight on with a refreshed story on my mind. (although how could I forget!)
Second reason is because if Karen Marie Moning wrote cliffhanger endings like she did in the Fever Series, there was no way I was touching ICED until the trilogy was done. I understand now that it is not as an angsty of a cliffhanger like the previous series so I am good to read it now. In fact, I am finally getting ready to start right after this post.
If you have not read the Fever Series what the heck are you waiting for? It is EPIC. There are very very veeeeeerry few series I would actually rate as EPIC and the Fever Series is one of them.

Great title of this book because it left me breathless. Wow did I enjoy it. I am pleased the cover had a bald guy on it since Seth has a shaved head however that is not quite how I picture the characters.
Leave Me Breathless is an exact example of me purchasing a book due to a Twitter buzz. Not by the author mind you but rather by the excitement from fellow book bloggers praising this story. That always captures my attention way more than an author plug so I bought it ASAP. I held on to read the story for a bit as I was waiting for the mood to strike me to read a contemporary romance with erotic elements. Perfection. There isn't a damn thing I can say about Leave Me Breathless that I didn't like about it. That is really rare for me. For the $1.99 price tag it is well beyond worth it.
Seth fits the bad boy persona in appearance. Tattoos, goatee, bald, awesome GTO car, plays in a band and even *clears throat* has a pierced manhood. (oh and he knows how to use it!!!) All this rocker image but you are still cognizant of a man who deeply loves his Nana, his sister and is fractured and wary of relationships because of his burned past experiences. He is forever the jokester and a talented tattoo artist. He says exactly what comes to his mind but seems to be able to hone onto the sensitive feelings and needs of Macy. To put it bluntly, he is droolworthy and has now been added to my list of book boyfriends.
I really related to Macy. A lot. In fact I saw a lot of Macy's persona in me. Probably more than I have ever felt in any heroine I've read before. Here is are some great descriptions about Macy:
"She'd always prided herself on being the type of who didn't spread her drama around for everyone's amusement, and swallowing that pride felt like choking down a bowling ball."
"She was one of those girls who remarkable had a different hairstyle every time he saw her."
Macy is the complete opposite of Seth. She is country to his heavy metal. He is tattooed all over his body and she is milky white clean. She rides horses and he plays guitars. She has a close loving relationship with her parents and he grew up without the influence of parents. Whereas their upbringings were opposite they both are fiercely loyal to their friends and are both pretty stubborn and determined. So on the outside looking in, they may appear night and day but inside where it counts, they were more alike.
I am reading Leave Me Breathless out of order since it is the third in the series. I am most definitely going back to read book 2 and book 1. You can read Leave Me Breathless as a stand alone but now I want to read more about these characters.
The intimate scenes were outstanding and very well written. Yes Leave Me Breathless is erotic but the story is the key feature. The erotic scenes are the icing on the cake. The scenes are not filled with props (toys etc) but rather the focus is more about the building of love between a man and a woman that just have insatiable appetites for each other.
