Duchess in Love by Eloisa James
Camden Serrard, Duke of Girton's (Cam) & Abrogina Serrard, Duches of Girton (Gina) book
Duchess in Love was my first book by Eloisa James and it won't be my last. I am actually going to give 5 stars. I totally loved it. It kept me up until 2AM this morning because I had to finish it. I just started reading it afterwork and I couldn't put it down. It was a page turner for me.
Cam had a super crappy father and he forced Cam to marry shortly after his 18th birthday to an 11 yr old Gina. Cam always thought Gina was his first cousin but it was not true. (The book later reveals why the Duke arranged that marriage)Cam said his vows and high tailed it out the bedchamber window and was never seen again for 12 years.
During the 12 years, Gina and Cam became close by writing letters as Cam settled in Greece. Gina also grew into a wonderful Duchess of Girton and care for it's people and looked carefully after the estate and villages. After 12 years Gina was now 22 and really wanted a marriage and family and became betrothed to Sebastian. Since Cam and Gina were married in the odd circumstances and did not consumate the marriage, Cam arrived back to England to grant her wish of an annulment.
I really wanted to remember the details about Duchess in Love. There were oodles of other characters in the book that made me think I was watching a movie while reading. There were two other marriage stories intertwined in Duchess in Love and I was just as eager to read about them. It was awesome to read how all the stories intertwined together. I think that is what made it such a page turner. There was never a dull moment. Just when you think the story was starting to smooth out, then another hiccup in the plans happened and I think I may have groaned out loud. (angst kills me) BUT I had to keep going and not stop reading. I just had to know what happened next.
I loved reading about Cam and Gina getting to know each other again. I loved reading about their battle not to fall in love with each other and to see them circum to the sizzling chemistry between them. Excellent read and I will look into more Eloisa James books. I loved it.
